Love Light & Love Life

It's been quite an amazing past year at New Jersey Institute of Technology.
My chapter, Pioneros of Lambda Sigma Upsilon, Latino Fraternity Incorporated
started a mentor program with our councilman that taught many children after
school in two locations twice a week. We were able to get volunteers from
Rutgers Newark, NJIT, as well as from Kean University.

Learn How to Cook

Learning how to cook and mix things up in the kitchen has truly served as a survival and needed skill in today's frugal and budget tight homes. Cooking takes time to shop for the right food, plan your meals and of course cook, but the rewards are knowing that you created a dish from scratch. This way you can fully control what enters your body.
Earlier this week I spoke about the subject of eating healthy and what it constitutes of. There are so many fruits, vegetables, healthy carbs, yogurts, nuts, dried fruits as well as sources of protein such as chicken and lean beef to choose from. It is a fact that what you put into your body will reflect in your outer performance and mental activity. So, we buy brain food and food that young people need who burn a lot of calories per day.
Eating healthy and organic is not cheap and must be planned well in advance before you go shopping. You can create a list of meals you would like to make for breakfast, lunch and dinner and buy specific ingredients that are needed. Also, when you go shopping, stick to the list. This is probably that hardest task.
Cooking opens your creative side of the mind and allows you to experiment combination of food into what you like.
When you go shopping look for items that can last long and can add to your emergency food storage. Storage should contain beans, rice, peanut butter, wheat, honey, dried milk, ect...

List-
-Brown rice
-Nuts
-Beans
-Pasta
-Sauces

--Fruits
--Milk
--Meats
--Vegetables

I am...

I am a public servant.
My workplace is the streets, schools,
businesses and organizations.
I work for the people and I am fully
supported by the people.
My work is never done as issues will
always arise here and there.
I stand up for my peoples rights,
I share the same dream that they have.
We all want to feel safe, protected and
to have a decent quality of life.
With that being said, I support education.
I support the families, the fathers, mothers
and the children who are our future.
We empower the backbone of the human race,
who are our devoted women and mothers.
However, we do not support no change,
tyrants, bigots and businesses who do not
give back to those who buy their products.
We are a people of love, not war.
Our love conquers all boundaries and barriers.
We no not of the word impossible but of the
word possible, because the last four letters
of our country is "I CAN."
I want to serve you Newark, though I will need
two simple things, your love and support.
Remember, together, anything is possible. Yes We Can!

Boy Scouts of America

How blessed am I to be a part of a great group of people!

The Boy Scouts of America exemplify all the great qualities
that young men need to have today and for the future.
These fellow young men will be the leaders and citizens of
the world! I am inspired and willing to learn
and grow as much as these boys will in the upcoming weeks,
months and years. Only time will tell who the real teachers
are. This will be a boy lead troop. They conceive the goal,
set the plan, and work the plan.

I look forward to the future with hope.

Why?

Because we have Boy Scouts in our world!

Barack Obama and the BP Oil Spill

JUDY WOODRUFF: Kathleen Hall Jamieson, is there a danger that perceptions could set in or perception about one or two things the president does now that he couldn't shake for the rest of his presidency? Or are we just over-reading that sort of thing into this?

KATHLEEN HALL JAMIESON: Crises create opportunities and they create presidential capacity.

So, for example, right now, what we have are visuals that are extremely difficult for the president to displace: dying endangered waterfowl, oil spilling on to beaches and children trying to pick it up. You also have a situation in which he has trouble with the metrics. He talks about thousands and tens of thousands of workers and boats and equipment, when the oil is hemorrhaging in hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions.

But what he can do is harness all of that into a speech Tuesday night that is, for him, a speech the equivalent of delivering the Marshall Plan speech for Truman, the Monroe Doctrine speech. A house divided against itself cannot stand, the civil rights legislation speeches of Lyndon Johnson.

He could give us the speech that talks about how this crisis is a defining moment for this people, and we will come out of it with a healthier planet, fueled by economies that have clean, safe energy, and he will tell us how we can get there, what the costs will be, and why we have to pay it. He can harness what he called in the campaign the fierce urgency of now, and control those perceptions.

Harlem Village Academies

"I had five core things in mind for my kids, and that’s what I want for our students," she said. "I wanted them to be wholesome in character. I wanted them to be compassionate and to see life as a responsibility to give something to the world. I wanted them to have a sophisticated intellect. I wanted them to be avid readers, the kind of person who always has trouble putting a book down. And I raised them to be independent thinkers, to lead reflective and meaningful lives."

Why..........Because

I just got done watching one of my old videos of Kekai my next door neighbor.

He wanted my to put my camera in my water proof case but I said "why"

his response was simple, "because"

When your at that age, everything is possible...

You know what..

Everything is STILL possible!

I miss this

I miss talking to myself.
It seems as though I am the only one reading it. That makes me happy.
A new article about the Globetrotters in Newark was just published, thanks to the guy who is sitting behind a black dell laptop typing this out. Cool, ROTC, Pledging, 21 credits, Volleyball, Newspaper. I'm fully loaded, scratch that, blessed! Just had a meeting with AF Officers about what they experienced. Never give up, never fear and strive to do your best. HUAH!!

Finally Finals

It's been about one month since I've posted anything on here and so much has already happened. I've been to NYC to see the show STOMP and to San Diego to visit my friend Trevor Crabb. I've also been going to church in the Iron Bound with Erin Morris. Classes have ended rather quickly and the goals that I have set in the beginning of the semester are finally coming to past. Volleyball has picket up it's rhythm and I will now have to motivate myself and others to get moving. I have two weeks in Hawaii before I will be sent back to the east coast. The Eddie Aikau big wave tournament was hosted in Waimea and I missed the whole thing, last time it happened was when I was a Junior in high school at Kahuku. Time is quickly passing and there are many choices that I will need to make in order for my life to be better in the future. I will graduate this May in Financial Engineering but what then? Somehow I will need to find an internship while I study for the LSAT. I already wrote my admissions letter, made my choice of what law school to go to and now it's time to get the test going. I'm glad that I have these choices to make, I need to decide, whether it's good or bad; I will decide. I can't wait to see Mom, Teresa and Crystal. I can't wait to feel the warm air and water. It's the calmness of the islands that refreshes my soul and relaxes my mind. Take me home to the islands! Till then...till then..
